Okay, I hear about the new GM. The picture below looks like more the same to me!

\

I can just hear what he is saying in the picture. . .

CEO:  "Okay boys, we need to build all of the cars in China, send all the engineering to India, then we will really make money!"

VP: "Boss, we already did that.... that is why there is no one left in the USA to buy our cars! "

CEO: "Gee I never thought about that, maybe that is why we filed for bankruptcy?"

"Oh, wait....maybe we could just outsource some foreigners to come here and buy the cars and get tax breaks by paying the right congressmen to pass this off as foreign trade...we can then get creative with the books and call that a profit!"

Pattrick, you're too funny!

No kidding. I tell you what really burns me. I am in the market for a car. I have always been a fan of muscle cars and had many.  5 Years ago I wanted to buy the Camaro and saw it at the Detroit Auto Show. I waited, and waited, and waited... and now here it is after the WORST fuel crisis since the 1970's. So now, I do not want a sports car, unless it has a hybrid engine.

So now I started looking at Hybrid. Drove the Ford, rides great, looks nice inside, but bla bla bla looks. Okay looks aside. It drives like slug. So next, I look at GM (I get a discount my father was a line worker). Okay what does GM have? A Malibu Hybrid. Great!!!  BUT the car only gets 34 MPG for a Hybrid? What the heck?

VW has a Clean Diesel TDI it can get up to 60 MPH on the highway. I drove it and it is faaast for a alt fuel car. I have to say if GM of F does not do better my next car will be the VW Sport Wagon with the clean diesel.

Anyway, GM has alway been behind the 8 ball. What a huge shame for the U.S. that GM has dragged their feet. They had the great electric car in the 90's and crushed them all. GM could have and should have been the #1 company in the world, but greed and mis-management, sunk 'em. Very sad.

GM is supposed to have a plug-in hybrid, the Volt, hitting the market in 2010. So that might be what you are looking for.

However I have my own reservations about it. It all sounds great, but let's see if it delivers first

Bass, seems to me GM is missing the mark again on this one. The volt is suppose to sell for $40,000+  Every Hollywood star will be driving it, thinking they are doing their part to save the world. They need to make a car for the masses. Look at the success of the Prius, 20k, and been on the road for many years.

Yep I agree.

But anyways these plug-in hybrid cars are coming, regardless of what GM does.  If they are wise, they will also have a compact plug-in hybrid in the showroom as well eventually.  But GM being GM it might take a while.  They announced lately that they will have a crossover SUV with the same drivetrain as the volt in 2011 (and likely pricy as well).  So you see which road they are taking.

I'd rather put my bets on Toyota, or even Tata motors, rather than GM.  I'm still waiting for them to prove me wrong.
